THE WBS History and Future
The WBS began back in 1992 with the idea that, while individual anglers might be very proficient in their waters of their local tournaments, the best of the best could compete well on just about any stage around the world. Most people would agree that it takes a combination of preparation, skill and a little luck to win a major billfish event in their home stoping grounds.
A world-class angler is someone who had the ability to take those same skills on the road, competing and doing well using different tactics and targeting different species than those encountered on a regular basis. The WBS strives to provide the arena for friendly-yet-serious competition on a worldwide level.
It is with those principle thoughts and our desire to educate the world about the sport of billfishing that we set the worldwide stage upon which our WBS anglers compete. We call this WBS World Tour.
